In our art class, we took an online multiple intelligences assessment to see what percentage of each intelligence were part of our overall intelligence. If you want to take the Multiple Intelligence Assessment, click here. Below is my self-assessment results.
I was kind of shocked with my results. I knew that I was going to be high in interpersonal because when I work in groups I am usually the leader. I mix well with people and am very social. However, I did not expect it to be my highest intelligence. I thought that logical-mathematical would be my highest intelligence. I am a big number person and I really enjoy solving puzzles, so I assumed this would be my highest one. I took a similar type of test just over a year ago and was higher in logical-mathematical than I was in interpersonal. By taking this test again I am able to see how I have changed and developed over the course of just one year. I think that it would be interesting to take the test again after a few years.
I am not surprised at all that musical was my lowest intelligence. Music never has been a way that I learn. I know that some people can make up songs in order to remember something that they are studying, but for me that does not work. Not one bit.
Once everyone had taken the multiple intelligences test, we wrote on the white board which intelligence was our highest and which was our lowest. Below is a picture of the results of our classroom.
From our classroom results, we can tell that a lot of us students are going to learn best by working with groups, but maybe this is because we are all future teachers. Our results also show that a lot of students in our classroom are not logical-mathematical. So you would not want to only teach a concept using numbers or problem solving.
I think that knowing what kind of intelligences are prevalent in your classroom is extremely important. As a future teacher, I want to know want to be able to effectively teach my students. One way to do this is to use different strategies that incorporate all of the different intelligences. By doing so, all of my students will learn the content and concepts that I am trying to teach.
