Have you filled a bucket today?
On January 20th, Syd implemented a "bucket filling" system in our class. I think that is was a wonderful idea to have in our classroom. It allows students to leave each other compliments, thank you's, or positive messages. I feel like we spend so much time on the negative aspects of life that we sometimes forget that there are positive things going on in each other's lives. I think that this is a great strategy to implement in a classroom because it allows students to leave each other messages of gratitude and appreciation. When you receive a positive message, it makes you feel good. By leaving that one simple popsicle stick in someone's bucket, you are making him or her smile. It is also rewarding to leave someone a positive message.
I think that our bucket filling system relates to social studies because it helps create a community within the classroom. I think that this is a wonderful strategy that I will definitely implement in my future classroom. The bucket filling system allows students to leave each other positive notes that helps create trust within our classroom community. The buckets are a way for all students to feel appreciated and loved.
